I just got back from the 2013 IDSA National Conference in Chicago. This years conference started differently than years past with the IDEA awards on opening Night. Bould design’s NEST & the Tesla S took home the grand prize. Thursday had great line up of Keynote speakers with Dean Kamen’s humbling talk on his non-profit FIRST stealing the show. If you haven’t heard of FIRST check it out HERE its a truly amazing program – please spread the word.
Thursday Night was packed full of parties with Core77 / Keyshot & MNML throwing down some Bass till the wee hours of the AM. Friday was the first year for the IDSA to try a Unconference or Not Conference . This seemed to be a great opportunity for people to get out catch up with old friends make some new ones and see the amazing city of Chicago in its summer glory. That night was a bit more mellow we hit a few parties then hit a few local hotspots.
Saturday we had to head back but I heard the speakers and closing night party were pretty well attended as well. Overall the industry seems super strong with almost everyone hiring and companies slammed with work. At one point a woman from the USPTO got up and spoke on design pattents applications being up 7x what they were just 4 years ago. Almost forgot – You can check out all our picts HERE.
Looking forward to next years conference in Austin…
