The Minimalists website has a maximalist following for lovers of adventure and admirers of gear. Their “Getaway” bag debuted in 2011 as a made-to-order resource, commissioned from luggage designer, Pakt, to meet their spec and match their vibe. In 2017, they floated the idea of a bag sequel to their legion followers on Indiegogo. That sketch sold out the offer in 10 minutes. Sprout was engaged to refine the design of the original, drawing on six years of new verve from the original minimal team. Pakt One is now passing $2M in sales with over 5,000 bags in play. On Nov 7th 2017, Sprout, Malcolm Fontier, and The Minimalists answered the requests of fans around the world to bring a cult favorite travel bag back to the market, via Indiegogo. Introducing the Pakt One, a bag for frequent travelers that combines the lightweight portability and style of a duffel with the organization and structure of a suitcase.
The Pakt One is an updated version of Malcolm Fontier’s limited edition Getaway bag, which broke ground in 2011 due to its innovative dual compartment, zip-around body style. Designed to provide easy access to all your belongings on the go, the Pakt One adds thoughtful features to help you save time and hassle while in transit. Highlights include:
First-of-its-kind TSA pocket to quickly stash items that have to be removed at security
Internal laptop pocket accessible from the top of the bag uses your clothing for extra cushioning
Accessory loops that allow you to clip items like a water bottle or sunglasses on the outside where they’re easy to find and won’t spill or get crushed.
The unisex Pakt One is available in three colors and is constructed with modern, durable, technical materials that are animal-friendly and have the lowest possible environmental impact. The suggested retail price for the bag will be $295, but early backers of the Indiegogo campaign will be able to purchase it for as low as $175 (although that sold out within the first 10 minutes.)
This is Sprout’s first collaboration with The Minimalists and first crowdfunding campaign. To date the the campaign has produced over $1.3 million in sales with over 5000 bags sold. Alongside longtime friend Malcolm Fontier and The Minimalists, Sprout redesigned the classic Getaway duffel bag with clever upgrades, environmentally-friendly materials, and plastic-free packaging. We worked on everything from product design, branding, site design, campaign strategy, photography, packaging, and art direction (we could keep going, but you get the gist).
