Sprout collaborated with DermaFlash to develop the second-generation Dermaplane, an advanced facial exfoliation device that effortlessly removes dead skin and peach fuzz. Our task was to design an ergonomic and iconic form suitable for women of all ages.
We focused on usability, creating a twisted handle that fits comfortably in the hand while delivering a unique, recognizable shape. The over-molded silicone exterior ensures a secure grip and waterproof functionality. Features include an LED power button visible through the silicone, and a single-press edge eject button. A metallic cap enhances both perceived value and manufacturing efficiency.
Designed for customization, the Dermaplane offers various color, material, and finish options for retail and collaboration opportunities. The charging process is user-friendly: eject the blade, invert the device, and place it in the charging cradle. For hygiene, the cradle only accepts the device without an edge, minimizing error. The thick acrylic base illuminates during charging to signal the process.
The Dermaplane has achieved significant market success, becoming a staple at major retailers like Sephora and earning acclaim as a favorite year after year in beauty magazines.
