Recap: International Design Conference 2024

The 2024 International Design Conference, hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), was an inspiring gathering of forward-thinking designers, innovators, and creative leaders. This year’s theme, “Design Disrupted: Shaping the Future of Design”, couldn’t have been more timely. In the face of global economic shifts and the evolving role of designers, we explored how adaptability and innovation are essential for thriving in today’s rapidly changing landscape.

The three-day conference took place in Austin, TX, and was packed with a variety of workshops and presentations, the IDSA Education Symposium, the annual IDSA awards, and the much-anticipated International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) Ceremony & Gala. It offered plenty of skill-building and networking opportunities, providing a space to learn, grow, and celebrate the future of design.

We enjoyed exploring Austin with old friends, making new connections, and exchanging ideas with the larger design community. It was the perfect setting to reflect on the evolving challenges and opportunities we all face as designers.

A huge shout out to the IDSA team and the local Austin Chapter for organizing yet another incredible event, and for the killer kickoff party at Stubb’s BBQ!
