Visual Identity & Illustration

The founders of Make Someone Happy wanted to translate the spirit of their late father, Carmine DiChiaro, into a brand animated by the pay-it-forward kindness he epitomized over his life. Sprout collaborated with Make Someone Happy to craft a brand identity that embodies Carmine’s good cheer, and translate that identity to projects in support of the company’s diverse charitable pursuits.
Working closely with Carmine’s family, we developed a colorful, congenial character mark, shown astride the planet with well wishes for all. We built a style guide with a holistic set of standards for how to maintain the overall look-and-feel of the brand. A toolbox of visual elements equip the Make Someone Happy team for future digital, print and promotional needs.
Sprout’s visual design team then worked with Make Someone Happy to launch a children’s book in honor of Carmine. We developed the layout and hand-illustrated the 24-page book, featuring a series of characters to capture beloved family members and moments in time.
With the intention to counteract negativity in the world by encouraging people to do simple, small acts-of-kindness, Make Someone Happy works with individuals and organizations globally to make a positive impact.

“We were inspired by our late dad, Carmine, to create ‘Make Someone Happy’ to inspire others to do small things for others ever day. We had some basic thoughts but the brand needed to be fully developed. Make Someone Happy was brought to life by the creative team at Sprout Studios. They worked with us to develop our story and all of the digital assets. They perfectly captured the spirit of our dad. It was incredible to see the character of Carmine come to life. Sprout’s team expertly guided us through an incredible creative process and the results were better than we could have imagined. The Sprout team was enthusiastic, kind, patient and an absolute pleasure to work with.”
