Video Recap: A Decade of Wicked Good Design

,

I spent the last three months preparing for Sprout’s 10-year anniversary celebration. During that time, I found myself reflecting on what it really took to get here. It hasn’t always been easy to keep Sprout thriving over the past decade, and I’m humbled to see where we are today.

It took heart, hustle and grit. But most of all, it took a village:

  • My wife and family, with their constant love and support.
  • Our Sprout team, past and present. You’re the core of everything we do.
  • Our clients, who trust us to bring groundbreaking ideas to life.
  • The design community at-large, which has been the foundation of it all.

The memories are endless. From cramming nine of us into my 700 sq. ft. basement in Harvard Square, to outgrowing our downtown Boston office with 15 people, to our current Albany Street studio with over 50 employees. It’s been a wild ride, but I wouldn’t change a thing.

Preparing for this celebration meant looking back through thousands of photos, countless hours of video, and more than 150 team members who have worked for Sprout over the years. What struck me most is that Sprout has always been more than just a studio—it’s been a lifestyle. A creative culture People came together to design what’s next, push boundaries, and have a blast doing it. Some are still here today, and others have gone on to do amazing things of their own. That’s something I’m really proud of.

As for the event itself? It was an epic night that’s taken me some time to process. I was overwhelmed and deeply honored to see over 300 friends, family, clients, and the design community show up on September 17 to celebrate this milestone with us.

We featured a gallery of 10 of our most impactful projects, each with its own unique story. We showcased our new sizzle reel and website, a video of Sprout life throughout the years, massive picture gallery, artful Sprout family tree, and a Boston design timeline (thanks PA). We had a slew of design organizations join us including IDSA, AIGA, Women in Design, RIT, as well as Calvin Laituri, the artist who designed our Wicked Good Design logo 5 years ago.

The highlight of the evening was a panel discussion exploring the next decade of design. Thank you to our panelists: Shawn Booth, Senior Design Director at Kohler; Stephanie Howard, Co-Founder & COO at Endstate; Adam Larson, Global Brand Creative Director at HOKA; and Josh Owen, Vignelli Distinguished Professor and Director at RIT. Shout out to Dan Rielly, our COO/CGO, who rocked it as our MC. Each of you have had a lasting impact on me and on Sprout.

The celebration continued late into the evening with a bar sponsored by Halfday Cocktails and Harpoon Brewing, a taco bar, DJ, photobooth, foosball and vintage gaming table.

The night was humbling, inspiring, and one I’ll never forget. It left me energized for what’s ahead. Here’s to living our dreams, the next decade of design, innovation, and community.
