Jordan’s Fresh Five: January 2026

CEO & Founder

I’m excited to kick off a new series sharing the things that show up again and again in my day-to-day, whether I’m talking with clients, friends, or family. These are the things I’m genuinely curious about, actively exploring, and excited to keep learning more about.

Nothing here is meant to be definitive or perfect. It’s simply a snapshot of what’s been moving me this month. I’m sharing it in the spirit of openness and conversation, and I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or recommendations as the series evolves.

1. Print: BRICKA Magazine

I’ve been a lifelong LEGO maniac (it’s what first pulled me into design), so BRICKA Magazine hits on a lot of levels. This is Sam Aquillano’s newest venture, and if you know what he built with the Design Museum (now CoDesign Collaborative), you know the bar he sets for thoughtful storytelling around design and culture.

Sam has been a longtime friend, and watching his evolution as both a creative and an entrepreneur makes seeing how he continues to shape design storytelling even more meaningful. BRICKA isn’t just about nostalgia; it’s about craft, creativity, and the builders who treat play as a serious form of expression.

There’s something refreshing about a print magazine that slows you down and invites you to really look. It’s a reminder that design doesn’t lose its power when it’s joyful, and that some of the most sophisticated thinking can come from the things we first loved as kids. I genuinely can’t wait for the next edition.

2. Listening: Breakneck (Audiobook)

Breakneck really resonated with me as a founder because it captures the tension between speed and sustainability, something you feel every day when building something real.

I listened to the audio book, and it speaks directly to the pressure to move fast, make decisions with incomplete information, and keep momentum without burning yourself or your team out. What I appreciate most is that it doesn’t glorify constant acceleration. It reinforces that real leadership is knowing when to press and when to slow down.

It was a timely reminder that scaling isn’t just about velocity. It’s about clarity, alignment, and building systems that can actually support the pace you’re setting.

3. Watching: The Thinking Game

The Thinking Game is mind-blowing on many levels. What struck me most is how clearly it shows DeepMind putting the world before profits. The documentary traces the journey behind some of the most important breakthroughs in AI, including open-sourcing research that’s led to real medical advances already impacting how diseases are understood and treated.

Watching it, you’re reminded that technology at its best isn’t about dominance or hype, it’s about responsibility, curiosity, and possibility. When brilliant minds are aligned around solving problems that genuinely matter, amazing things can happen.

4. Gadget: Raspberry Pi + AI Prototyping

Lately, we’ve been concepting and prototyping with Raspberry Pi in combination with AI, and it’s been a ton of fun. What excites me is just how far this can go. Tiny, affordable hardware opening the door to real AI-powered products you can touch, test, and iterate on quickly.

It brings me back to a very hands-on way of thinking about building, breaking, and learning fast, where curiosity leads, the stakes feel playful, and the potential is very real.

5. Health and Wellness: WHOOP and Advanced Labs Clinical Review

I’ve been on WHOOP for about four years, and while it’s not always perfect, the recent upgrades combined with deeper insights from Advanced Labs clinical review have helped me get on top of my health in a new way.

As a baseline, it’s been incredibly valuable, especially when it comes to sleep. I’m averaging about two additional hours a night, which has had a ripple effect on focus, mood, and overall fitness. What I appreciate most is how the data encourages smarter recovery. Sometimes progress means pushing harder, and sometimes it means recognizing when you’ve pushed too far and giving your body the space to reset. That balance has been a game changer for me.

Over the next few months I plan to test other platforms to see how they stack up. Next up, Function Health.
